WordPress CMS Development
I have been building Websites primarily using WordPress as a content-management system since 2007.
I’ve started writing blog posts explaining some of the steps in the process.
My goal is to develop a comprehensive list of how-to articles with best practices for developing static Websites on a WordPress foundation.
Here are the articles I have so far, and some of my ideas for future articles:
- Using WordPress as a Content-Management System (CMS): This post explains what modifications you should consider when building a Website on WordPress, including topics such as navigation, security, ecommerce and plugins.
- A How-to Guide to Migrating a Website to WordPress: This is a step-by-step look at the tasks involved in moving an existing Website onto the WordPress platform, so that you can use WordPress as a CMS.
- Building and Operating a retail eCommerce site on WordPress: I’m hoping to start working with a company that sells products online. The client may be interested in moving to WordPress, which would give me a chance to test out this plugin.
- Maintaining and Upgrading WordPress CMS sites: I’m starting to realize that after the initial install, it is necessary to “check in” on WordPress CMS sites every so often to make sure the application and plugins are up to date.
